This week has been fairly quiet for Mayoral duties although not so quiet for the town!

Last weekend we saw the first Ale Trail take place, which is another event to add to the town’s festival status, which is growing with new events being added, these events bring in new people every time to visit our wonderful Town, and I hope the town are taking full advantage of it.

Alcester also hosted the second of the National Tug of War Championships at the Jubilee Centre and fields, this time being the Final with the team from Norton becoming the National Champions yet again. The Jubilee Centre has once again proved itself to be an excellent venue for such events and continuing to be of value to the community with several community groups now using the Centre on a regular basis.

The Alcester Vallet Twinning Association also spent the weekend in France and all the reports I’ve heard a very good time was had by all although in much lower numbers this year. The Twinning association are looking at new initiatives in order to bolster the interest and support to raise its members and keep this connection going, if anyone is interested let us know by any of our online media or email and we will pass it on.

I am taking a well needed holiday for the next two weeks so I am leaving my very capable deputy, Yvonne Hine, to pick up the Mayor duties and I’m sure she will keep you all informed here too.

Enjoy the last of the sunshine while you can!
