3rd September 2013

Hello everyone I am the Deputy Mayor of Alcester, Yvonne Hine, and while our Mayor is having a much needed holiday, I am holding the fort!

I play an active role with the running of the Jubilee Centre so I would like to take this opportunity to say what a wonderful achievement I think this building is being for the Town Council and for the Town. It is a busy time at the moment welcoming new groups to the Jubilee Centre and existing users back after their summer holidays.

I looked out of the main hall windows the other day and it was lovely watching families using the play area. When you do take time to look at scenes like this it makes you realise why we must never give up working for the good of the town.

As for Mayoral duties I have a few in the diary for the coming week, the one I am most looking forward to is the ‘Cheese and Pickle event’ at Coughton Court which I have been asked to open. It always fascinates me the number of different varieties of cheese there are. I think that there will be a lot of purchasing being done by Yvonne!

Of course I cannot finish without mentioning the meeting next Monday which I’m sure plenty of you will be attending. It is the Stratford District Council Planning Committee meeting to discuss the second of planning applications for the Land north of Allimore Lane, which has been deferred twice. It will once again be a chance for the Town Council to be the voice of the residents in this very important decision.

I will be back again next week, Yvonne
