Councillor Andrew Foster

I have lived in Alcester since 2007 with my wife Kathrin and our young family working as a freelance IT Project Manager. I grew up in nearby Redditch and then moved to London for 20 years before returning to the Midlands. All three of our children attend local schools.

I have been a member of Alcester Town Council since May 2015 and have been a member of the Planning, Community Care and Community Facilities committees during that time. I have also chaired the Community Safety Action Group which formulates the Town Council’s approach to emergency planning, road safety and flooding. Part of our work includes coordination and training of the town’s community speed watch group and flood wardens as well as liaising with other relevant agencies.

Outside of my work for the Town Council I am a keen cricketer and member of the coaching team for the thriving junior section of Alcester and Ragley Park Cricket Club. I have a keen interest in issues affecting young people in our town and serve as a trustee of Warwickshire Young Carers which works to improve the lives of young carers from 8 and upwards across the county. This includes giving young carers the opportunity to make contact with other agencies, support their educational needs and meet new friends.

One of my motivations for joining the Town Council was the maintenance of important facilities in Alcester and to that end I have been a Trustee of the Alcester War Memorial Town Hall supporting the recent refurbishments and projects that have taken place.
