I was co-opted to Council in July this year, just a year after moving to the town. My husband John and I fell in love with Alcester, and particularly the warmth and friendliness of the people, on our first visit some years ago and decided to make our home here.
I am an environmental and sustainability scientist and have had the privilege of living and working all over the world in the last 30 years but I am very happy to be settled in our wonderful community as I start the process of slowing down my professional life.
My professional experience is very broad but with a focus on the management of water, flood risk reduction, passive treatment of water and wastewater for re-use and other ‘low impact’ approaches to meeting the requirements of life. For the last few years I have run a small, not for profit, company that focuses on the improvement and repair of the natural environment and facilitates greater public access to and enjoyment of green spaces. This has involved working closely with industry, utility providers, regulators and local governments.
My motivation for joining Council is to make a meaningful contribution to the betterment of our Community whilst protecting the qualities and services, that make Alcester such a great place to live – particularly in light of the climate and ecological emergency that we all face.
