Statement from The Mayor of Alcester Cllr Gill Forman
On behalf of my fellow Councillors and Council staff I wish to express our sympathy on the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Our thoughts and prayers are with Her Majesty the Queen and The Royal Family at this sad time.
In accordance with the wishes of the Royal Family, the Queen has asked for donations to charities which were ‘close to Prince Philip’s’ heart instead of flowers. Prince Philip supported many charities including the World Wildlife Fund, Fields in Trust, British Heart Foundation, Book Aid International and was Founder and Patron of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
In lieu of flowers, the Town Council has made a donation to the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme in memory of His Royal Highness.
If you would like to leave a message of condolence, please use the online form.
The funeral of HRH Prince Philip is on Saturday 17 April and will be live streamed on television. Flags are being flown at half mast until the day after the funeral. During this week of national mourning, Town Council business and services will be operating as normal. However, some Council meeting dates are affected- please see web pages for further information.
