Councillor Kathryn Cargill

I moved to Alcester in 1988 and married Mark at St Nicholas Church. I am told that this ‘just about’ qualifies me as a local. I worked for Warwickshire County Council as an analyst/programmer for over 26 years, before retiring in 2015. We moved to Oversley Green in 2010, whereupon I joined the residents’ association (OGRA) and have been their treasurer since 2011. I am also a member of the Royal British Legion and have been treasurer of the Alcester branch since 2017. I was co-opted as the Town Council ward member for Oversley Green in 2017.

I am the Lead Councillor for Health and Wellbeing. As a Town Council we have “community” at the heart of everything that we do. Our Health and Wellbeing programme has been nationally recognised and underpins everything that we are about. Our projects aim to meet needs in the community, whilst giving people the added wellbeing boost of making new friends and getting out with a purpose. Our initiatives come from the Health and Wellbeing Partnership and directly from the community. Our aim is always to make the available money go further by recognising and targeting local priorities.

It was an honour and a privilege to serve as Mayor of Alcester from 2021 to 2023. I look forward to continuing to meet and work with the many people that give their time, skills and enthusiasm for our very special town.
