Community Flood Resilience Panel

Community Flood Resilience Panel

In June 2025 the Community Flood Resilience Panel came together to drive a proactive and coordinated action plan that aimed to strengthen Alcester’s ability to prepare for, and if needs be, recover from flood events in the town.

The Panel has identified three key areas to initially action.

  • Community risk awareness. The Panel have provided the community in the more at-risk areas of our town with easy-to-follow guides on flood preparedness. This community messaging will be a continual role of the Panel.
  • Flood Alleviation Initiatives. The Panel are engaged with organisations and stakeholders that are undertaking flood management schemes in our catchment area and will provide our community with updates as to the progress of these projects.
  • Community Action. We have recently launched our Flood Watcher Volunteer initiative. The main role of volunteers is to be the early eyes and ears of the town by spotting early cues that if left unattended will cause problems in the functioning of our existing flood defences. Roles such as drain surveillance watchers, river flow watchers, Gunnings and Oversley Bridges blockage watchers and Flood Watchers data compiler are available for the community to volunteer for.

For further details on how to become a volunteer please contact the Panel by email: administration@alcester-tc.gov.uk  Tel : 01789 766084 or Text 07775500993 or 07581029506.
